Stereo design award shows our eye for quality

Posted by Nick on 21-04-2010

We love good design here at Theme, and passion really does include everything from print and web design through to great looking cars and stunning consumer goods.

And our eye for style and picking out the best in design has been echoed by Home Entertainment magazine, who chose Bang & Olufsen's BeoSound 5 as one of the designs of 2009.

The stereo is the centre piece of the beautiful gear installed by Mark Roberts, our friend and client over at B&O Camberley. The wonderful set-up has already featured in one of our previous newsletters, but we were very pleased to see it getting international acclaim.

The respected magazine said at the time of the stereo's launch that it was perfect "for those who revel in the timeless beauty of architecture and sculpture, and that its "sleek and sturdy" looks made "an iPod look like a VW Bug to its Bentley" - better now tell Big Lou that!

In its final paragraph, the magazine said: "Stylistically, it is of the upper echelon of craftsmanship. Although not all of us may find ourselves driving in a Bentley, listening to the musical equivalent of one is an equally satisfying luxury experience."

We couldn't agree more!

Chocs away at Holloway

Posted by Mark on 19-04-2010

Neil and his cake

Royal Holloway's Neil Perrott certainly didn't end up with egg on his face when he won our Easter Who's the Fatty? contest – just a huge grin when he saw his goodies!

Neil successfully told us that the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland was late for a very important date, and I took his giant chocolate cake and Easter eggs over to him on Wednesday.

He was delighted when he saw them, saying: "Thanks for all the chocolate and the cake, it’s exactly what we needed after all the chocolate over Easter!"

I stayed at Royal Holloway for a while after that but never saw Neil again - I can only guess that he disappeared to enjoy his treats! That said, the rest of the team were just as grateful, so they obviously got their share, too!

Second win for Anna

Posted by Mark on 14-04-2010

goal

Anna Mansfield's Rookie Rangers, who became the first team to break Hectors Heroes' dominance by winning manager of the month in October, has now won a second Theme Dream title.

It was a staggering month for Rookie Rangers, whose 393 points were 34 more than overall leaders the Thoresby Terriers could manage. And not only was it enough to win her the bubbly once again, but it also lifted her from outside the top five to second place overall.

Hectors Heroes' early charge seems to have faded - they have gone from looking unassailable before Christmas to being in fourth now - and Richard Jee's grip on the overall prize seems to be tightening. With only handful of games left, his 123 point lead seems to be too big a gap for anyone to bridge.

We will be in touch to arrange delivery of Anna's prize shortly. Going into the final few games, the top five are:

  • Thoresby Terriers 2,542
  • Rookie Rangers 2,419
  • 12 Disciples 2,402
  • Hectors Heroes 2,385
  • Lil Lou's Lads 2,359

meet baby powell

Kaitlyn Alyssa Powell

The wonderful pink bundle of joy and newest member of the Theme Group family, who made her debut appearance just in time for Easter, has finally been named - Kaitlyn Alyssa Powell.

Proud mum Amanda, who is doing well, said "Kaitlyn arrived 2 weeks late on 28th March 2010, weighing 8lb 4oz. Very quick delivery, record time of 45 minutes so can’t complain – better than the 3 dayer event that was Jayden.

"She is gorgeous and keeping us busy with her 3 hourly feeds (but thankfully only one in the night!)."

Theme goes global

Posted by Nick on 12-04-2010

xxxx

We've been sent a cracking picture that shows just how global any brand can go given a bit of thought and creatvity.

Because while myself and Mark never quite made it to the big time golf scene, we have proof that something Theme Group has produced is worthy of gracing the hallowed turf at Pebble Beach, California.

Granted, it was only a golf shoe bag branded with our logo, and granted it is now our old branding, but we're still pretty excited that this bag made it half way round the world to pose at this famous course - spreading the Theme Group name in the process!

And not only are we excited to see its journey, but we also think it shows you don't need a huge marketing budget to create a global image - we managed it with something as simple as a shoe bag with our logo on it!

Its journey - and this photo - came courtesy of Peter "Private" Ryan, one of the regulars on the Brendan Heggarty Invitational that Mark and I often compete in. He was at the course, which held numerous big tournaments including the US Open, with some fellow golf enthusiasts and thought we should know how far our name has travelled (many thanks for the update, Pete!).

If you would like some ideas on getting your name known further afield, drop us a line at differentbydesign@themegroup.co.uk
