let it snow!

A snowy Old Chapel

I was really excited when I woke up this morning and saw it had snowed, I wrapped up warm and walked to work through the snow and it was great fun!! If I had had a sledge I would have taken it with me!

When I walked around the corner, the chapel looked magical covered in snow, so I took the opportunity to take a few photos, you never know when it will happen again.

Festive fun at Theme Group!

Ghost's Secret Santa pressie

When it came to Christmas cheer and yuletide celebrations, it was certainly a busy Wednesday at the Old Chapel!

Firstly we had our Secret Santa, which saw a whole host of gifts ranging from thoughtful to completely hysterical being exchanged under the Christmas tree. Highlights included a mini Henry hoover for OCD (Our Company Director!) Mark, a selection of smellies for Sarah, and a coffee cup that looks like a pint of beer for Paul.

Even Ghost got in on the act with his stocking full of toys and treats - a present he very quickly got to work on munching through!

And once the presents were given out, we quickly got into our gladrags and headed off to our Christmas meal at Frankie & Benny's. Everyone had a lovely time - Marcus had on his special Christmas jumper - and we even managed to end the evening without any embarrassing incidents. There is always a first time for everything!

Check out our pics - don't we scrub up well!

Yule's the festive fatty winner?

Posted by Big Lou on 17-12-2009

CAKES!!

How time flies when you're busy and Christmas is fast approaching - it only seems like yesterday that we were all laughing at Mark's 80s hair (oh hang on a minute - it was yesterday!) and it's already time for another Who's the Fatty winner.

We asked you who has a red nose at Christmas. At the time of writing, we haven't yet had the pleasure of our staff bash, so anyone who said it was the Theme team after a few sherbets did not get the right answer.

But many of you correctly identified that it was Rudolph, and the randomly chosen winner was Polly Chapman from Epson.

Congratulations Polly - your goodies will be with you very soon!

Final 2009 Theme Dream winner

Posted by Mark on 15-12-2009

Royal Holloway's Natalie Dobson has bagged her hat-trick of Theme Dream Manager of the Month awards, despite close competition from Butterfly Hotels' Dani Elstone.

Although Dani's team raced into an early lead with 117 points following Tottenham's 9-1 demolition of Wigan, Natalie also managed to pass the 100 point mark that week.

And consistent scores throughout the rest of month for Natalie, coupled with fluctuating results for Dani and the other Theme Dream members, means Hector's Heroes triumph again. A few player reshuffles before the busy Christmas period is probably in order if the chasing pack is to mount more points than the runaway leader.

I'll try and deliver her manager of the month prize soon (she's building up quite a collection for the festive period!). All I hope is that she's changed that tracksuit by now!

As it stands, the top five are:

  • Hectors Heroes - 1,129
  • Thoresby Terriers - 1,013
  • Manchenster - 1,002
  • Down in Albion - 995
  • 12 Disciples - 970

15 sleeps to go

Christmas tree and sign

The Christmas tunes are on, Lil' Lou is singing along loudly, the tin of chocolates has been raided and we've even got a real tree up in reception. But, whilst we are all starting to feel very festive - there is still 2 weeks for us to be working on your projects. However, there are couple of festive dates to note.

  • Wednesday 16th December - We will all be promptly out of the office by 5pm as we are going out for our Christmas meal. And obviously we all need time to glam up and look our lovely best - Mark needs to do his hair, Lil Lou needs to make sure her Mary Poppins handbag is well stocked, and Sarah has to pick which one of her lipstick collection best matches her outfit for the evening!
  • Thursday 17th December - Apart from the odd fuzzy head... it will be business as usual again right up to Christmas Eve.
  • Thursday 24th December - The studio will be open, but only until 12noon - then we're donning our elf ears and Santa hats and jingling outta here! But don't worry - we'll be back at our desks, ready and raring to go, at 9am on Monday 4th January 2010.

So proud of our new arrival

Posted by Jodie on 08-12-2009

Baby Evie

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a new arrival - Evie Sydney Currey. She was born at 5.07am Friday, December 4, weighing 8lb and half an ounce. She was pretty quick to arrive, for a first baby, and I am quite proud of myself!

All the "mental" training I've done in the past obviously worked – plus, a good dose of pethadine and gas and air helped it along!

Rob and I are both totally in love with her. She is beautiful - all those cakes I ate on my last day obviously sweetened her up a good'un!

Low scoring weekend in Theme Dream

Posted by Jo on 07-12-2009

For the second week running, my 'I Hate Football' team was not the lowest scorers - putting my ambition of winning the wooden spoon in jeopardy!

While Marcus become the first - and so far only - Theme Dream member to accrue zero points, Bill Denwood tried his hardest to match him and grabbed seven points. Although I was second bottom score of the week with 22, several managers failed to fare much better and managed scores in the early to mid-20s. Even runaway leader Natalie could only manage 32 points in what was a quiet week for Theme Dream - the top score was a mere 61 (Manchenster and OCD all stars), while Mason United and Mighty Hammers managed 60.

So after a slow weekend, the top five throughout the league are:

  • Hectors Heroes - 1,074
  • Down in Albion - 935
  • Thoresby Terriers - 929
  • Manchenster - 924
  • 12 Disciples - 915
